Who is Jack Shaheen?
Jack Shaheen is the author of Reel Bad Arabs, a former CBS News consultant on Middle East affairs, and Professor Emeritus of Mass Communications from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Shaheen was born in Clairton, Pennsylvania, to Lebanese immigrants. Other books include: The TV Arab and Arab and Muslim Stereotyping in American Popular Culture. He is "a recipient of two Fulbright teaching awards, holds degrees from the Carnegie Institute of Technology, Pennsylvania State University, and the University of Missouri." He was also the "Distinguished Visiting Scholar at New York University’s Hagop Kevorkian Center for Near Eastern Studies."
