Who was Jacobus Golius?

Jacob Golius, was a Dutch Orientalist and mathematician. His most important work is the Lexicon Arabico-Latinum, which, based on the Sihah of Al-Jauhari, was only superseded by the corresponding work of Freytag in 1837.
