Who was Jaqueline Tyrwhitt?
Professor Mary Jaqueline “Jacky” Tyrwhitt was an Anglo-Greek architect, landscape designer/city planner, journalist and educator. She served as Professor of the Graduate School of Design in the Department of City Planning and Landscape Architecture, Harvard University for many years until her retirement.
She was the elder of two female siblings born in Pretoria, South Africa to British parents, where her father, Thomas Tyrwhitt, an architect, had been working. In 1907, her mother returned to England, bringing her two daughters.
