Who was James Armstrong?

James Armstrong was an American physician and politician.

Armstrong was born in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, the son of Brigadier General John Armstrong and the brother of John Armstrong, Jr., who became the U.S. Secretary of War. He served as a medical officer during the American Revolutionary War, and is sometimes confused with several other James Armstrongs in the war. He represented Pennsylvania in the United States House of Representatives from 1793 until 1795.
