Who was James Begg Kent?
James Begg "Jim" Kent was a New Zealand politician of the Labour Party. He was born in Dunoon, Argyll, Scotland and emigrated to New Zealand in 1909. In Greymouth he was a borough councillor for many years, and deputy mayor. He died in Greymouth.
He represented the West Coast electorate of Westland from a 1947 by-election after the death of James O'Brien to 1960, when he retired.
