Who is James C. Lessersohn?
James Lessersohn became senior vice president, corporate development for The New
York Times Company in January 2007. Previously, Mr. Lessersohn served as vice president,
finance and corporate development of the Times Company since November 2001. He served
as vice president and treasurer since September 1999 and as vice president of corporate
Before that, he served in a number of positions at the Company including: managing
director, strategic planning, 1994 to 1997; director of corporate planning, 1991
to 1994; manager of corporate planning, 1989 to 1991, and project manager, strategic
planning, 1987 to 1989.
Before joining the Company, Mr. Lessersohn was the corporate planning manager for
Affiliated Publications, The Boston Globe's parent company, from 1984 to 1987 and
he had been manager of market research services at The Globe since 1982. Before
that, he was a planning analyst and planning projects manager at The New York Daily
News from 1979 to 1982. Mr. Lessersohn began his newspaper career in 1978 as an
intern in marketing research at The Boston Globe.
Mr. Lessersohn received a B.A. degree in government from Harvard College in 1977
and an M.B.A. degree from the Harvard Business School in 1979.
