Who is James M. Lloyd?

James M. Lloyd was a United States Republican politician from South Dakota.

A native of Yankton, South Dakota, he served as a delegate to the 1940 Republican National Convention and 1944 Republican National Convention.

He is best known for winning without an opposition 1960 South Dakota Presidential primary. He didn't run in any other state. Lloyd, alongside that year nominee, Vice President Richard Nixon and Governor of West Virginia Cecil H. Underwood, were the only candidates to win primaries in 1960.
