Who was James Sutcliffe?
James Frederick Sutcliffe was an English cricketer.
Sutcliffe represented Hampshire in one first-class match in 1911 against Worcestershire at New Road, Worcester.
Sutcliffe served in the First World War. In 1915 Sutcliffe took part in the Gallipoli Campaign, where he served in the Royal Marine Light Infantry, holding the rank of Lieutenant Sutcliffe died during the campaign on 14 July 1915. His name is listed on a war memorial outside Portsmouth Cathedral.
