Who was Jan Černý?
Jan Černý was a Czechoslovak civil servant and politician. He was the prime minister of Czechoslovakia from 1920 to 1921 and in 1926. Also served as provincial president of Moravia in 1918–1920, 1921–1928 and 1929–1939.
Jan Černý was born into a furriers family in the small town of Uherský Ostroh, wery east of Moravia. Attended gymnasium in Uherské Hradiště from 1885 to 1893. After studies at the Faculty of Law of the Charles University in Prague – graduated 1898 – began professional career as a state servant in Hodonín. From 1912 was a senior department director in Moravian governor´s office. At the time of the revolutionary establishment of Czechoslovakia when it went residual statehood Bohemia and Moravia he became in 29 November 1918, as a highest ranked Czech speaking imperial state servant in Moravia, head of local government.
