Who is Jarmila Kratochvílová?
Jarmila Kratochvílová is a Czech former athlete. She won the 400 metres and 800 metres at the 1983 World Championships, setting a world record in the 400 m. She also set the world record for the 800 metre in 1983, which is still the world record and is currently the longest-standing individual world record in Track and Field. Only one athlete, Pamela Jelimo in 2008, has run within a second of that record time since that date in 1983.
