Who is Jashumatiben Korat?

Jashumatiben Savjibhai Korat is an Indian politician, a former Minister for Women and Child Welfare of Gujarat state. She was born into a farmer’s family in an Indian village near Junagadh. She was a housewife until the sudden death of her husband. She was elected to the state legislative assembly in a by-election after death of her husband, Shri Savjibhai Korat, in 1999, as the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate. She was a Member of Legislative Assembly from Jetpur Constituency. Later in 2001 she was appointed as State Minister for Women and Child Welfare. Again in state election of year 2002 she was elected as Member of Legislative Assembly from Jetpur Constituency. In year 2005 she was appointed as State Minister for Women and Child Welfare. Again in year 2007 she was elected as Member of Legislative Assembly from Jetpur Constituency. She was dropped from the Cabinet in 2008.
