Who is Jasper Schneider?

Jasper Schneider is the USDA Rural Development state director for North Dakota. Prior to his appointment, Schneider represented the 21st legislative district as a North Dakota Democratic-NPL Party member of the North Dakota House of Representatives from 2006 to 2009.

Schneider made an appearance at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota on October 1, 2008. He promises to be a "regulator first, politician second" and accused the current North Dakota Insurance Commissioner of arbitrary rate denials that weren't based on financial reasons.

In 2008 he ran for North Dakota Insurance Commissioner against Adam Hamm. Schneider lost in a very close race with 49.7% of the vote.

Schneider resigned from the North Dakota House on November 3, 2009 after being appointed as North Dakota's director for the USDA Rural Development.
