Who is Jay Dunne?

Jay Dunne is the lead singer of Melbourne punk rock band 28 Days. He is often referred to as 28 Jay and is respected throughout Australia for his hip hop/rap ability and style.

Dunne's best selling single with 28 Days was the song "Rip it Up", which was co-written with Barry Palmer of Hunters & Collectors. The "Rip it Up" single achieved Gold selling status in Australia. The album Upstyledown debuted at No.1 on the ARIA Charts and was certified Platinum in Australia.

Dunne has been referred to as one of the early pioneers of white rap in Australia. Some of Dunne's rhymes and early freestyle work were of a high standard. Dunne has also written music with Australian act Resin Dogs and UK act Apollo 440.

Dunne has been involved in some controversy, including an incident involving the band The Drugs. Drugs' singer Ian Baddley had posted an open letter on their web site alleging Dunne had used hateful language on stage at the Big Day Out. Fans of 28 Days, led by notorious rioter Jake Miller, retaliated by damaging a vehicle and musical equipment owned by The Drugs.
