Who is Jelaing Mersat?
Jelaing Mersat is a Malaysian politician. He is the Member of the Parliament of Malaysia for the Saratok constituency in Sarawak, representing the Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party. He was the Deputy Home Minister in the Barisan Nasional coalition government. He was appointed Deputy Minister for Transport after a minor cabinet reshuffle in June 2010.
Mersat was elected to Parliament in the 2004 election, replacing Peter Tinggom as the SPDP's nominee for the Saratok seat. He had been a staffer to Tinggom while the latter was a Deputy Minister.
