Who was Jesse Haines?
Jesse Joseph "Pop" Haines was a right-handed Major League Baseball pitcher and knuckleballer. He played briefly in 1918, then from 1920 to 1937. Spending nearly his entire career with the St. Louis Cardinals, he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1970. In 2014, he was inducted into the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame Museum. He ranks second in franchise history in shutouts.
