Who is Jim Smith?

James Edward Smith is a writer and critic best known for writing film and television criticism and directorial critical biographies - including studies of George Lucas, Tim Burton and Quentin Tarantino. A graduate of University College London, he has also co-written audio plays for the Doctor Who/Blake's 7 spin off Kaldor City, including the series premiere, and contributed to numerous film and science fiction magazines. He has also written charity Doctor Who fan fiction with Mark Clapham. Asked about his habit of co-writing with a variety of people Smith commented - "I've written things with a lot of different people, partially because I'm a great believer in third brain theory, and partially as a series of attempts to disguise my own lack of talent." He is a co-owner of/reviewer for the Shiny Shelf site.
