Who is Jimmy D. Long?

Jimmy Dale Long, Sr., is a former Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. He represented District 23 from 1968 until 2000, being the "dean" of the Louisiana House when he returned to private life. He is a recognized authority on educational policy. For sixteen years, he chaired the House Education Committee. The Shreveport Times named Long "One of the 100 Most Influential People of the 20th Century in North Louisiana." He is a member of the Long political dynasty.
