Who is Joan Erbe?

Joan Erbe is a Baltimore painter and sculptor. She is best known for using bright colors and has been called "The Grand Duchess of Baltimore Painters". She received her training at the Maryland Institute College of Art, where she was a student of Leonard Bahr and Louis Bouché.

She has had over 60 individual art shows, at venues including:

The Baltimore Museum of Art,

The Butler Institute of American Art,

Goucher College,

The Johns Hopkins University,

The Smithsonian Institution,

Philadelphia Art Alliance,

Salpeter Gallery,

St. John's College,

The Art Gallery at the University of Maryland, and

I.F. A. Gallery.
