Who is Joanne Atkinson?

Joanne Louise Atkinson is a former British Olympic swimmer.

Atkinson was born in Chipping Campden. She attended Millfield School and represented Great Britain in the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. At Millfield, Atkinson was trained by Paddy Garratt. Atkinson swam in the women's 100 and 200 m butterfly. She also represented England at the Commonwealth Games at the British Commonwealth Games in 1974 in Christchurch, New Zealand where she reached the final in the 100 m butterfly and 4×100 m medley relay.

After Millfield, Atkinson attended the Universities of Miami, Durham and Loughborough. She is married and has two children.
