Joey "The Jab" Singleton, was a professional boxer born in Kirkby, Liverpool, England. Born 6-6-1951. Joey was a light welterweight boxer and won the British title in a distinguished career as a professional. Nicknamed "The Jab" due to his fast hands and use of his very accurate left jab, Joey was a very talented pure boxer with power behind his fast jab and overhand right. Affectionately christened Joey the Jab, Singleton grew up in Kirkby and won a full set of titles as a talented amateur fighter – National Schools, Junior ABA and then senior ABA crown in 1971. He represented Britain a dozen times, winning gold medals at two multi-national tournaments before turning pro under revered fight guru Charles Atkinson.
