Who was John A. Ellet?
Lieutenant Colonel John A. Ellet was an officer in the United States Army during the American Civil War. He was the nephew of Colonel Charles Ellet, Jr. and General Alfred W. Ellet.
He commanded the ironclad USS Lancaster until she sank in March 1863. He also commanded the Ram Fleet.
