Who was John Christopher Bartholomew?

John Christopher Bartholomew was a Scottish cartographer and geographer.

He was the son of John Bartholomew, and the great-great-grandson of the founder of John Bartholomew and Son Ltd..

Bartholomew served as president of the British Cartographic Society in 1970–71. He was also a vice-president of the International Cartographic Association, 1972–80, and from 1987 to 1993, he was president of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society. He was also active on the committee of the Scottish Rights of Way Society, and was made its honorary president.
