Who is John D. Kasarda?
John D. Kasarda is an American academic focused on global management strategy, aviation and economic development. He is currently the Kenan Distinguished Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he directs the Center for Air Commerce.
Kasarda is the developer of the “aerotropolis” concept, which defines the roles of aviation and airports in shaping 21st-century business location, urban competitiveness, and economic growth. In 2011 Time magazine named the airport-centered concept as one of the "10 Ideas that Will Change the World." He is co-author with Greg Lindsay of Aerotropolis: The Way We'll Live Next, released in March 2011 by Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
