Who is John Pelesko?
John A. Pelesko is an American mathematician. He is currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Delaware.
John grew up and in Roselle, New Jersey and attended Roselle Catholic High School from which he graduated in 1986. Pelesko graduated with a B.S. in Pure Mathematics with cum laude distinction from University of Massachusetts Boston in 1992. He received his PhD from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1997 where he was a student of Gregory Kriegsmann.
Pelesko taught at California Institute of Technology as an Instructor, at Georgia Institute of Technology as an Assistant Professor before settling down at University of Delaware as an Assistant Professor.
Pelesko's mathematical interests include the development and application of mathematical methods to problems arising in the microwave heating of ceramics, electron beam welding, diffusion in polymers, solidification thermomechanics, thermoelastic stability and shock dynamics. Currently, his research is focused upon the mathematical modeling of microelectromechanical systems and nanoelectromechanical systems.
