John Philip Coghlan

Who is John Philip Coghlan?

John Philip Coghlan is president and chief executive

officer of Visa USA. In this role, he is responsible for setting the

strategic priorities that will enable Visa USA to extend its industry

leadership. Coghlan also oversees and guides a senior management team

responsible for executing Visa's day-to-day operations with a focus on

delivering increased value to all stakeholders in the electronic

payments chain, including Visa's Members, their cardholders, and

merchants. Before assuming his current position, Coghlan spent 17 years

at The Charles Schwab Corporation, where he managed each of the

client-facing businesses of the company. In his last role at Schwab,

Coghlan served as vice chairman of The Charles Schwab Corporation and

as president of the Individual Investor business. In this capacity, he

oversaw a 390-office branch network and its sales force, Schwab's

client service as delivered by its four service centers, its Active

Trader business, and its industry-leading Web site, www.schwab.com.
