Who is John Zappia?
John Zappia is a drag racing competitor from Perth, Western Australia. John races an HQ Holden Monaro in the Top Doorslammer category. He is the current Australian Champion and Elapsed Time record holder for this category. His speed was recorded at 252.24 mph. This was achieved during his qualifying run at the 2013 FUCHS Winternationals held at Willowbank Raceway Australia on the 9th of June 2013. This record was backed up by his 5.753 second qualifying run, achieved the day before at the same event.
On Sept 18th 2005, John became the first legal Top Doorslammer driver in the world to record an ET under six seconds, with an elapsed time of 5.967 seconds at approximately 242 mph.
John is also the current Australian Top Doorslammer Champion, winning the "Pro Series" Championship for five years straight in 2007/08, 2008/09, 2009/10, 2010/11 and 2011/12.
