Who is Jonny Howson?

Jonathan Mark "Jonny" Howson is an English professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for Norwich City. A graduate of Leeds United's youth system, he previously served as the club's captain.

Howson was born in Morley and started his professional career at Leeds United. He was the longest serving player at the club, having served under four different managers and making 225 appearances since he made his debut in the League Cup in September 2006.

In April 2008, United manager Gary McAllister awarded the captaincy to a nineteen year-old Howson for the league game against Millwall, making him the youngest player to captain the club since Billy Bremner led the side from the mid 1960s. Since 2010, he has regularly captained the side in the absence of Richard Naylor. In July 2011, Howson was made the permanent captain of Leeds United. In January 2012, Howson joined Premier League side Norwich City in a deal costing around £2 million.
