Who is Jose Esteves?

Jose "Joe" Esteves is the mayor of Milpitas, California. He was born and raised in Dagupan, Pangasinan in the Philippines and he has been mayor since 2002. Esteves graduated from the University of the Philippines Diliman with bachelor's degrees in civil engineering and industrial engineering and an MBA. In 1980, Esteves emigrated to the U.S.

He is the first Filipino to served as a mayor in Milpitas, California.

In the year 2012, Esteves announced that he will be endorsing Garry Barbadillo and Rajeev Madnawat for the Milpitas City Council November election. However,both were not able to make it; Barbadillo in 3rd place and Madnawat in 5th place. Deepka Lalwani, Mark Tiernan, and Ola Hassan also competed for the spot in city council. Debbie Gordiano and Carmen Montano both made places in city council.
