José Pedro Costigliolo was a Uruguayan painter.
From 1921 to 1925 studied at the "Circulo de Bellas Artes" having important masters such as Vicente Puig and Guillermo Laborde. Participated in the Bienale of Modern Art, San Pablo Brasil, in the years 1951-1953-1955-1957-1961-1977 In 1952 Costigliolo founded, with his wife Maria Freire, the Non-figurative Art Group in Uruguay, revolutionizing Uruguayan art together. Costigliolo was one of the most important artists of Moderism in Uruguay, and was considered a pioneer in this movement.
