Who was Joseph Jones?
Joseph Jones was an American lawyer and statesman from King George County, Virginia. Jones was a member of the Virginia House of Burgesses. He served on the committee of safety in 1775. He was a delegate to the Virginia constitutional convention of 1776. Jones served in the State house of delegates in 1776, 1777, 1780, 1781, and 1783-1785. He also served as a delegate for Virginia to the Continental Congress in 1777 and again from 1780 to 1783. He was the uncle of James Monroe.
