Who was Josiah Dean?

Josiah Dean was a U.S. Representative from Massachusetts.

Born in Raynham, Massachusetts, Dean attended the common schools. He engaged in the rolling-mill and shipbuilding business. Selectman in 1781. Town clerk in 1805. He served in the State senate 1804–1807.

Dean was elected as a Democratic-Republican member to the Tenth Congress. He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1810 and 1811. He resumed his former business pursuits. He died in Raynham, Massachusetts, October 14, 1818. He was interred in Pleasant Street Cemetery.
