Who is Joyce Tung?
Joyce Tung graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. in Biological
Sciences and a minor in Computer Science. She then entered the Program
in Biological Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco,
where she pursued a Ph.D. in Genetics. Her thesis work was done in the
lab of Renee Reijo Pera, where she studied the function of the DAZ gene
family in mouse and human germ cell development. After leaving UCSF,
Dr. Tung performed postdoctoral research in the lab of Greg Barsh at
Stanford University. Her work focused on understanding the function of
the SLC24A5 gene in human melanogenesis and pigmentation.
