Who is Kae Sun?

Kae Sun is Kwaku Darko-Mensah Jnr. a Ghanaian-Canadian singer-songwriter. Kae Sun's music has hints of soul, folk and hip-hop creating a sound that is sometimes described as Urban folk. MTV iggy further described his eclectic sound as indie pop with a hint of soul. Kae Sun's mostly self produced debut album Lion On A Leash, was released on October 5, 2009 to very favorable reviews. Kae Sun immigrated from Ghana to Canada in his teens after graduating from the renowned Achimota School in Accra where he first started performing and writing music.

He studied Multimedia and Philosophy at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. The "tastemaker" music website Okayplayer described the artist as, "a poetic observer of the human experience, his music is designed to touch without suffocating the listener with faux illusions of authenticity or grandeur".

Kae Sun has played venues and festivals worldwide and has opened shows for such diverse acts as Ana Tijoux, K'naan, Speech Debelle and Dan Mangan. Kae Sun is scheduled to release his second full length album AFRIYIE in the spring of 2013.
