Who is Karin Enström?

Karin Märta Elisabeth Enström is a Swedish Moderate Party politician and military officer, who currently serves as Minister for Defence in the Government.

She has been a member of the Riksdag since 1998, representing Stockholm County. After the 2010 general election she was appointed Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and was a member of the War Delegation and the Foreign Policy Council. Previously she was a member of the Defense Committee from 2002 to 2010. From 2008 to 2010, she was Chairman of the Defense Committee.

Enström graduated as an officer in 1987, underwent the Royal War College Public Course in 1988 and its higher course in 1993. She currently holds the rank of captain in the Swedish Amphibious Corps. She has been a member of the City Council in Vaxholm since 1994 and was a councilor chairman from 2002 to 2006.
