Who is Karl Dorrell?

Karl Dorrell is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the offensive coordinator at Vanderbilt University, a position he assumed in January 2014. Dorrell served as the head football coach of the University of California, Los Angeles from 2003 to 2007, compiling a record of 35–27. He led the UCLA Bruins to five bowl appearance in five seasons, but did not coach in the fifth after he was fired in December 2007. Dorrell was the first African American head football coach in UCLA's history.
