Who was Konrad Heubeck?
Konrad Heubeck born in Alberndorf 22 April 1918 was a Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross holder and a member of the Waffen SS he held the rank of Untersturmfuhrer. As a member of the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler Regiment he participated in both the occupation of the Sudetenland and the annexation of Bohemia and Moravia on 15 March 1939. He won the Iron Cross 2nd class during the Battle of France, and was past of Operation Barbarosa where he was awarded the Winter War medal. He would go on to command the 1st Company, SS Panzer Regiment 1 LSSAH. He was awarded the Knights Cross just before the end of World War II on the 17 April 1945
Heubeck survived the war and died in Celle on 1 September 1987.
