Who was Takamura Kōun?

Takamura Kōun was a Japanese sculptor.

He created the bronze statue of Saigō Takamori, completed in 1898, which stands in Ueno Park in Tokyo.

He was the father of the poet and sculptor Kōtarō Takamura.
