Who is Lalji Singh?
Lalji Singh is an Indian molecular biologist. He currently serves as the Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University,the Chairman of Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi and was the director of the centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology before that. His areas of his research interest involves molecular basis of sex determination, DNA fingerprinting, wildlife conservation, silkworm genome analysis, human genome and ancient DNA studies. He was awarded the Padma Shri by Government of India in 2004.
