Who is Lara Davenport?

Lara Shiree Davenport OAM is an Australian freestyle swimmer who specialises in the 200 m event.

At the 2007 World Aquatics Championships in Melbourne, Davenport competed in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay. She swam the third leg in the heats, setting the second fastest split among all swimmers, in 1 min 58.51 s to help Australia qualify fastest for the final. As a result, she gained selection in the finals team at the expense of Bronte Barratt and Linda Mackenzie, who were Australia's representatives in the individual event. She swam the third leg in the final, but could only manage 1 min 59.28 s as Australia came fourth.

At the 2008 Australian Swimming Championships she qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing as a member of the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay squads by coming fourth in the individual event.

She swam the heats of the relay, and collected gold when the first-choice quartet won the final in a world record time. Davenport is studying psychology at Bond University.
