Who is Lorenzo Veneziano?
Lorenzo Veneziano was an Italian painter. His earliest altarpiece was painted for the high altar of the church of Sant' Antonio di Castello, and is now in the Gallerie dell'Accademia of Venice. It is dated 1359, and represents the Annunciation with a portrait of the donor, Domenico Lion, the Christ in benediction, and figures of various Saints, and was painted in conjunction with Francesco Bissolo. The Accademia also possesses an altar-piece by him executed in 1371. It consisted of five panels, on which an Annunciation and six figures of saints were painted, but it is now broken up into separate works. Also by Lorenzo are Saviour Enthroned with Saints and Angels in Correr Museum.
