Lucien Anderson

Who was Lucien Anderson?

Lucien Anderson was a United States Representative from Kentucky. He was born near Mayfield, Kentucky. He attended the public schools and studied law. In 1845, he was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Mayfield.

Anderson served as a Presidential Elector on the Whig ticket of Winfield Scott and William Graham in 1852. He served as a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives 1855-1857 and was elected as an Unconditional Unionist to the Thirty-eighth Congress. He declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1864. He also served as a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1864. After leaving Congress, he resumed the practice of law. He died in Mayfield, Kentucky in 1898 and was buried in the Anderson family cemetery
