Who was Marcel Bezençon?
Marcel Bezençon was until 1970 the director of the European Broadcasting Union. In 1955 he conceived the idea of the Eurovision Song Contest based on the famous Sanremo Festival. The Eurovision Song Contest remains one of the world's most popular music events.
The Marcel Bezençon Awards were founded by Christer Björkman and Richard Herrey –. In 2008 the new category called “Gylleneskor Fan Award” is introduced by initiative of the website’s editor-in chief Alexander Borodin – who wanted to give the fans of Melodifestivalen and the ESC an extra opportunity to take part as well.
