Who was Joaquim Marques Lisboa, Marquis of Tamandaré?
Joaquim Marques Lisboa, the Marquis of Tamandaré, was a military officer and member of the Liberal Party.
Lisboa was born in Rio Grande. His long military career expanded from the Brazilian War of Independence to the Paraguayan War and for being the very first Brazilian native Admiral, he is the Brazilian Navy patron.
In the year 1936–1938 Brazil published a coin with his portrait.
He died in Rio de Janeiro, aged 89.
