Who is Matej Tóth?
Matej Tóth is a Slovak race walker. He is a three-time Olympian, having competed in 2004, 2008 and 2012, and has represented his country at the World Championships in Athletics on three occasions. He won the gold medal at the 2010 IAAF World Race Walking Cup.
At the Dudinska Patdesiatka race in March 2011 he set a Slovakian record of 3:39:46 hours for the 50 km walk to take first place. He failed to finish the 50 km race at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics, but came 14th over 20 km. He began 2012 with wins at the Rio Maior Grand Prix and Poděbrady Race Walk meets.
He was the 2006 Slovak Athlete of the Year. He is a journalist by education.
