Who is Michael Walchhofer?
Michael Walchhofer is a former Austrian alpine ski racer. He started his career in slalom, but then moved over to the speed events. During his career he won the downhill world cup three times, one silver medal at Olympics Games, and one gold, two silver and one bronze medal at World Ski Championships. He became the first skier to win the Bormio Downhill three times with his victory on 29 December 2010. His last race was the downhill event in Lenzerheide on 16 March 2011. Michael Walchhofer has also been a longtime owner a chain of slopeside luxury hotels and runs a ski school as well.
