Who is Mike Ellis?
Mike Ellis is a retired Australian professional basketball player. He played his whole career in the National Basketball League. Born in Perth, Western Australia, he was the first captain of the Perth Wildcats when they formed in 1982 as the Westate Wildcats and captained the side until 1992. He led the team to successive championships in 1990 and 1991, before being replaced by Andrew Vlahov. He was the club's leading scorer in 1983 and 1984. After ending his playing career, he stayed with the club under many roles, including general manager, assistant coach and head coach. However, his role as head coach lasted for just one season, in 2003/04, before being replaced by Scott Fisher.
On February 4, 2013, Ellis was named in the Perth Wildcats 30th Anniversary All-Star team.
