Who was Mykhaylo Maksymovych?
Mykhailo Oleksandrovych Maksymovych was a famous Ukrainian naturalist, historian and writer.
He contributed to the life sciences, especially botany and zoology, and to linguistics, folklore, ethnography, history, literary studies, and archaeology. A well-known Slavist, he was a central figure of the Ukrainian national awakening of the nineteenth century.
