Who was Nicolas Eekman?

Nicolas Mathieu Eekman, known as Nico Eekman, Nic Eekman and Ekma, was a Belgian figurative painter of Flemish descent.

He illustrated many books, notably The Destinies by Alfred de Vigny, Beer‐Drinker's Tales by Charles Deulin, Tyl Ulenspiegel by Charles de Coster and Culotte the Donkey by Henri Bosco. He is also notable for his drawings, watercolours and engravings.
