Who is Niloufar Talebi?

Niloufar Talebi is a writer, award-winning translator and theater artist. She was born in London to Iranian parents and currently lives in the United States. She received a BA in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Irvine, and an MFA from the Writing Seminars at Bennington College. She is the editor/translator of Belonging: New Poetry by Iranians Around the World, and the founding director of The Translation Project.

Her projects include Four Springs; Midnight Approaches], short poetry videos that have screened at festivals internationally: ICARUS/RISE; The Persian Rite of Spring, and Ātash Sorushān, a libretto reflecting on the decade since 9/11 for composer Mark Grey and Soprano Jessica Rivera. Ātash Sorushān was co-commissioned by Meet the Composer, Carnegie Hall, where it premiered on March 29, 2011, and Cal Performances, where it West Coast-premiered on April 3, 2011.
