Who was Nolen Richardson?
Clifford Nolen Richardson was a third baseman in Major League Baseball. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He attended college at the University of Georgia and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
Richardson played 6 seasons in the majors. In 168 career games, Richardson had 117 hits in 473 at bats. He was the shortstop and captain of the 1937 Newark Bears team that is widely regarded as the best in minor league history. Richardson later became the head baseball coach at the University of Georgia.
He died on September 25, 1951 in Athens, Georgia.
